Haute9questions with Angella Phillips

Angella is a renowned model in the fashion industry. She is known as one of the most influential models in Africa and seems to be doing a good work with her talent. I recently had the opportunity to interview her for The Haute Syndicate’s Haute9questions which is where we’ll be bringing you short interview quickies with major talents in the Nigerian fashion industry. Here are her answers;

Tell me about you...

My name is Angella Phillips, I'm a professional model. I have a passion for art and photography. I'm a graduate of the University of Benin where I studied Accounting. I'm the second child of four in my family. I love taking pictures of myself and I enjoy hand-making/designing accessories.

Why modelling?

I'm very passionate about all aspects of modelling especially Photography modelling and I have strong features that portray me as a model that's why I chose modelling.

Tell me about your journey so far in the fashion industry?

It's been quite fun and educative. The industry has a lot of talent and I find myself lucky to be one of them. I've had the opportunity to be a Muse to over 28 photographers in Nigeria and a few international photographers as well. I've worked with fashion houses, labels, magazines, fashion shows and other beauty brands. This is my 5th year as a professional model in Nigeria. It's been God's grace.

What are your fears as a top Model in the fashion industry?

To be honest my major fear is waking up one day and becoming fat, *laughs*. As a top Model in the industry I have a fear of being rejected which is a normal thing anyway but it doesn't stop my passion for modelling.

Apart from modelling what else do you do?

Well, right now I'm doing my National Youth Corps Service(NYSC) and I'm into handbag making and jewellery designing.

What do you think about the Nigerian fashion industry?

It's fast rising. I can say it's doing great. Nigeria is one of the top African countries whose fashion industry is doing great. I mean compared to some years back though, now there are so many talented designers. I'm proud of my country.

Who is your male model crush?

Errrmm! Really? *laughs*. His name is Kobina Bolaji.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

California.

What's your favourite tv series?

The Johnsons.
